Seeking forgiveness I
Thankful I
Ponderous I
No more mere
apparatus
nor I alone
But a verb,
a becoming,
I become
thus and they
projecting
until
from and amid
this way and that
comes a way onward
where before
there was none.
Seeking forgiveness I
Thankful I
Ponderous I
No more mere
apparatus
nor I alone
But a verb,
a becoming,
I become
thus and they
projecting
until
from and amid
this way and that
comes a way onward
where before
there was none.
I okay “Thanks,”
but is okaying it now
enough?
Should I regret not
saying thanks
when, upon your mistreatment of me,
I took leave of you,
As one might regret not
upgrading oneself
to a seat in Economy Plus?
Or does regret
just breed regret?
Upon my asking this
of my remorse
I release it,
with intent to do better next time.
“The basic law of magic,”
says The Illuminatus Trilogy,
is “As ye give, so shall ye get.”
You didn’t give,
I thought,
So why should I?
Instead you told others
my addressing myself
to another you
disgusts you
and others like you.
To get off that wheel
And make thanks okay
one would have to
give as one would
an offering of peace.
for all who move
and all that is still
on this world that spins
for plants that grow up poles
tendrils running
skyward through metal
silhouettes of birds
for the wow of each day
last night’s full moon in Aquarius
genres that allow us to receive our fellow beings.
Gratitude, too,
to the goldenrod
and the Queen Anne’s lace
and the wind in the trees.
Gratitude to all who care for the garden
and report of its flourishing.
Gratitude to the cosmos,
the great human and nonhuman multitude,
manifold persons and beings
gathered here
aboard Spaceship Earth
and Beyond.
We kick off the weekend relaxing beside a community pool in our neighborhood. Frankie loves it. After some initial skepticism, I too come to like it. It’s a bit busy, but Sarah packs us a great lunch. And in the afternoon, we gather gang-like for a barbecue in a friend’s backyard. It’s a good group; we all enjoy each other’s company. And the friend is a great host. For all who make events of this sort possible, for all who labor in their preparation and/or facilitate their happening, I give thanks.
